Hi, this is David Pakman on behalf of Expert Village. In this video series, I'll be talking
about the fundamentals of jazz drumming. Okay, now that we've really been practicing, probably
for hours I would hope, just playing with the high hat and the ride cymbal over here,
our jazz beat. We're going to add in the snare drum and the first thing I'm going to do is
going to be very simple. I'm just going to play quarter notes on the snare drum. So in
my counting, one and a two and three and a four and a one, on the one, two, three and
four, I'm going to play the snare. So let's try that first, slowly incorporating the snare.
As you can see, I don't have to play this very fast. It's a very simple snare pattern.
One, two, three, four. And the idea is just to start being able to play this jazz ride
pattern and coordinate it with the other limbs in many different ways.
