Teachers who teach students suspected of having a learning disability have new
tactic available to help them identify this population.
Thanks for the passage of IDA2004, teachers can now use a
process known as “response to intervention” commonly referred to as a
RTI.
involves exposing students to increasingly intensive levels of
intervention, commonly
demonstrated across three different levels.
If the student fails to respond to empirically validated,
scientifically based practices,
then the possibility exists that the student might have a learning disability,
an additional testing is necessary.
