Hi, my name is Teri Crane, this is my email and there's a short
instructors bio here
i'm going to be
instructing VPSS Social Studies Tier Two
and
i'd like to give you an overview of the course
as you can see the
the course is broken into five
modules
all having to do with world history
before the module starts there's this little part here called Getting Started
that you can use as a reference tool
all these are
really should uh... he read
in their entirety
they're important to keep as reference and so forth there's rubrics in here,
class syllabus and so forth
then typically each module is the same it begins with
letter for me that i know you can only see half of
then in the first modulel there's this student tracking form an opportunity to
download that which i strongly suggest
Here's
what it looks like
and it gives you a place to check off everything you have to do in every
module. so it's very important
so beyond the
tracking form
then you have the content of the module
there's a pre test that you need to take before you began it's really hard I just
want to say that so
don't be discouraged it doesn't count
then every
module has objectives
this one has a few extra things in here including
how to write a standards based lesson,
framework and standards which you will need for lesson plans
there's a section on economics and a quiz on economics in most of the
the modules as well
and then let's just take a
typical
let's go to lesson two
you'll see within
you'll have like pictures
and so forth and in many
lessons there's an extended learning that you can click on the link it'll
take you to
more discussion about what that particular lessons about
sometimes there's a discussion topic
which you need to
uh... answer and if you go up here to discuss it discussion board
lets this is the water cooler as an example but let's suppose you need to
answer
discussion topic
you'll figure out quite easily how to place it to the proper place on board
then just click create a thread
then you put the subject
"hi there" you say what you need to say
and then off the screen over here to the right there's a submit button
then your posting will be on the board
so going back to class content
you have the letter
the various
lessons
that you click on
then you get to the end and then there's always a weekly assignment in this case
it's in lesson plan
when you click on that
it tells you what the lesson plan is I mean what the assignment is and
and there's a place for you to submit
you can either upload it or you can copy and paste it and put it right here. Either
works fine with me
actually this was a lot easier sometimes because
sometimes the formatting is different
so back to class content
so that's it
you have
a place for
you've got the letter
some sort of
thing on economics
various lessons that have to do with the
title of the module. you have a weekly assignment
at the end you have a module quiz
At the very end of everything you are going to have a
to take a quiz at the end of the class
that's pretty much it it's pretty user-friendly
i'm looking for it to
having you in the course
and again if he ever had
any any questions
right there that's where you can get me at or there's a section in the discussion
board with class musings
let me show you this really quickly so that you can know what to do
but
every module has a class musing section and you can post
questions in there for me or for your other colleagues too because sometimes
they can be very helpful as well
so and I'm looking forward to working with you and i hope
that this has been a helpful trip and
and uh...
I want you to feel comfortable taking this class
okay, take care we'll talk to you soon
