I'm Saadat Iqbal. I'm currently completing a Traineeship in Telecommunications.
I'm employed by Skilled as Trainee Network Designer.
When I was in my secondary school I actually
had a passion for the Telecommunication industry. After moving to Australia
pursuing a career in the Telecommunication
industry, the Traineeship actually provides a base
to fulfil my dreams. The Traineeship not just
improve my technical skills but it actually improved my
day to day activities. The benefit of a qualification
was not only to get on the job training but
also improved employability and understanding of how
Telecommunication industry works in Australia.
The structure of the Traineeship is really beneficial because it gives them a hands on experience
before they actually come into the office. Sadaat's just taken to it and he's
doing a great job. He's actually putting out really good designs
and now he's considered very much a part of the team in delivering the
program of work that we have. I never thought I would win the Victorian Trainee
of The Year but stepping up on stage and receiving the award
felt like a dream come true. It's an honour to be part of this Australian
Training Awards. I was actually proud to
represent my state, represent my family.
It enabled me to be able to become a role model for the new immigrants coming to Australia.
Looking for a new future as well as mature
aged people who want to change their career. In the short term I want to grow
in my current role as a network designer and in the long term I
would actually be looking at an opportunity to oversee
the network and plannings and design side of the overall
Telecommunication industry. This Traineeship
meant a lot to me. Having a nationally recognised qualification
imporved my skills and will actually have the financial means
to support my family.
