They say, “Birds of a feather flock together”. What does it means? It means that, “birds
that are alike hang-out together”.
So we’ve got two equations here that are alike, and the first one we have “6x - 8x”
you will notice that the pro-numerals are alike so because they are like terms, we can
add and subtract them so let’s work this out. “6x take away 8x” that is certainly
going to yield a negative number because we are taking away more then we starting off
with. So clearly the answer here will be “-2x”.Now let’s have to look at the next expression,
first of all let’s check that we have like terms, we have “-8a and -5a”, so both
of them are “a’s” so they are flocking together, they are both like terms so now
we could actually do this equation we could actually add and subtract. So we start up
with “-8a minus another 5a” what is it going to give us? Oh it’s “-13” we know
that. And because they are both “a’s” and like terms, we put an “a” here.
