Where is one place you can watch the Tigers football game without entering Faurot Field?
Lathrop Hall, of course.
Hello, I'm Nic Smith. And I'll show you around the hall that towers at nine stories
and is located in prime position for the football weekend.
By the way, you won't be able to see the field unless you're on the top floors. And they're also off limits to students who aren't Lathrop residents.
Now, let's take a look inside.
Hey, Christie.
Hi, how are you doing today?
I was wondering if I could take a tour of Lathrop Hall today? Is Lisa around in her room to show me around?
She may be on her floor, or you can check her room.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
I was wondering, if I was interested living in the area, are there any available computing sites I could use?
We have two computers over here with a printer, and Center Hall has a more extensive computer lab.
Okay, thank you.
You're welcome.
Just behind the front desk in the hall lounge--one of the largest areas within the building.
If you become a resident of Lathrop Hall, you often find this space becomes used for social events and activities.
When it's not being used for events, residents can utilize the space to study, hang out, or indulge in their guilty pleasures of reality television.
The lounges are open and there’s a lot of common areas for students to gather and I think that really helps them get to know one another.
So, we can be a very social community, because students have that opportunity to interact with one another very easily.
Hey, Lisa. Did I catch you at a bad time?
No you’re fine. Just kind of hangin’ out with some of my residents. What’s up?
I was wonderin’ if you could show me around a resident’s room today in Lathrop?
Yeah! Um, Marty, you two are roommates. Do you want to show them your room?
Yeah, that’s fine! Let’s go!
Cool.
I’ll see you guys later.
Lathrop Hall is very much so community driven.
That said, Lathrop supports one main type of room.
And that is the double-room.
Two residents typically share these rooms which also share a bathroom with their floor neighbors.
All of the room doors are locked with a hard key, which you will receive at the front desk once you move into the hall.
This is our room. We have chairs....
Do you guys like living over here? How do you all like the general area of Lathrop for you guys?
I mean I like it. The reason I chose it is because my Mom’s an out-of city driver, so it’s really easy for her to get to. And it seems kind of convenient.
Yeah. This is our sophomore year, and I like living on campus, just because it’s way more convenient than having to take a bus every day.
And then we have Dobbs right next to us. Which is like the easiest place to eat.
Take the tunnels when it’s cold.
How’s it like living next to the stadium?
Um, the traffic gets kind of crazy, and on game days it’s nuts. But, it’s really great just to be so close to the stadium and, just, everything.
Well, thank you guys.
Yeah! Hope we helped.
As you saw earlier, every other floor has an exterior balcony which has a gorgeous view of Memorial Stadium.
You can access the balconies per floor lounge. Like the exterior balconies, you’ll find other interior balconies which helps lengthen the floors.
Did I forget to mention the tunnels?
This famous locale for the era actually links Lathrop to Jones and Laws Halls, as well as the Pavilion at Dobbs (a wonderful campus dining spot).
You can access the tunnels in the basement of Lathrop.
Along the way you can find the laundry room, the kitchen, and the study offices. So stop by and say “Hi” next time you’re walking by.
Thanks for joining me on the tour of Lathrop Hall today.
As you can see the hall is quite large and accommodates both male and female students.
Let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns about the hall.
Or you can visit us on the main website at reslife.missouri.edu. See you around campus!
We have a little motto around here. It’s not really official. But, “Not just for a year, but Lathrop for life.”
