Hey I'm Alex I'm a photographer at Moses Photography
and today i'll be showing you a few hints and tips
for taking a perfect sunset shot here at the
beach in new south wales
first thing you then need to get that a spectacular shot is of course
you handy dandy tripod without the tripod
you won't be able to take the shot with a long exposure and you'll probably have
shaky blury photos
with that out of the way after youve set a camera up on a tripod
next phase you need, especially in the brighter sunsets
is maybe a couple neutral density filters
and graduated density filters and they look practically like this
now these are glass cokin filters
can either be graduate ahh.. gradual
can go from dark to light which is perfect for sunset especially when we
get some of the
foreground in the photo or umm not blow out the sky but keep some of the
detail
and just normal neutral density filters
that will darken the photo up and allow you to get a longer exposure
now if you're taking photos of umm
rocks in the water such a like that you need the
a few those neutral density filters just so you can get that long exposure
get that nice blurry photo with the waves turning into a kind of nice fog
and if you just wanna nice static
pretty much detailed sunset photo then you don't need as much neutral density in
photos and
most of it you can do just with the gradual density filter
now with your
camera set up on the tripod well what you want to do is try and get
the shutter speed to around let's say
in this kinda situation your iso should be
to its minimal probably 100 200 iso and your shutter speed should be around
one 20th and you should aim for a
aperture between 4.5 and
7.6 keeping as much detail as you can
now with that if you take a photo with those settings
you get a nice naturally phenomenal looking photo
but if you don't want to get those
blown out highlights in the sky and
keep it all... the detail in your shot
stick a filter ontop with a neutral density filter
take the same photo
and you've got a magnificent shot
now hopefully these small hints and tips will help you get that
beautiful photo, I'm gonna show you the finished work after this
and you get to see for yourself what it looked like... thank you for watching it
