To our Venezuelan brothers [and sisters], the Student Movement in representation of the youth.
Venezuelan youth, considering the totalitarian nature of the regime that governs us and nonconformist
with the lies, illusions, and the violence with which it imposes itself, profoundly hurting the hearts of all Venezuelans,
and pretending to obscure our consciences, generating resentments and divisions within the society:
Facing the historic responsibility to represent the public opinion,
to achieve the reconciliation of the Venezuelan people and reconquer democracy,
we have agreed on the principles and the demands that lay foundation to our struggle of non-violent resistance.
Venezuela lives a time tormented by misery/poverty, a drama built by the lie that covers our hearts
with hate and divisions. The regime deceives the world by qualifying our protests as violent.
It pretends to deny the profound crisis the country is living, as if the reasons for protesting
so much social discontent were not obvious.
Our people suffer countless injustices due to the violence, the profound economic crisis,
and the disrespect of the rule of law. They have stolen/taken away our freedom and, with
it, the prosperous future of our country.
As Venezuelan youth, we recognize the duty to manifest our nonconformity through peaceful
and strong protests against all of these abuses. To orient ourselves towards reconquering freedom
and democracy. To achieve the dream of a country where inclusion, peace, and the prosperity of all Venezuelans are possible.
We want to overcome the historic failure this regime has sentenced us to.
Our movement promotes an integral, social change for Venezuela, which does not respond to any political partisanship.
We are young people freed from resentments, prejudices, and divisions. We want a free
and healthy Venezuela at its heart. We have awoken the duty to fight against the oppression
of lies and we will not rest until our nation is one for all Venezuelans once more.
Our bravery does not come from the courage of violence, but from the strength of our convictions.
In the face of recent events that clearly show the Venezuelan government's lies and injustices, we demand the following:
First, we demand freedom for all the young people detained. We demand that the tortures
and the violations of human rights cease immediately. We demand justice against those who have ordered
and committed the tortures against those detained.
Second, we demand that repressive measures cease. These generate so much discontent within our armed forces.
Third, we demand the immediate disarmament of the armed, paramilitary groups, which make
themselves look like community collectives. These cause fear to the Venezuelan population.
We also demand an end to impunity for the many crimes committed.
Fourth, we demand the democratic renovation and relegitimisation of the public powers
consistent with the reality of the country. We demand that this allows, among other things,
the renovation of rector terms of our autonomous universities.
Fifth, we demand the end of censorship of media and mediums of communication. We categorically
condemn the Venezuelan government's lying, media hegemony, which aims toward the people's
disinformation and sabotage.
Sixth, we condemn the destruction of the country's productive apparatus, which has lead to shortages and the high cost of living.
Moreover, it devaluates the possibility of building our future.
We call on all of the civil society, on its unions, on business owners, on workers, and
on the family institution to join us in this historic challenge. This challenge for the
reconciliation and justice for all Venezuelans.
Hate cannot defeat hate, only love prevails. We call on the National Guard, as Venezuelan brothers,
to consider the country's republican reconstruction with us. Our struggle is your struggle.
It is a struggle against lies and injustice and for the construction of an independent,
prosperous, just, and democratic Venezuela.
And to those who today call themselves a government, know that as Venezuelan youth, we propose
a reconciled society based on solidarity and justice. We will not stop struggling and resisting
until this Venezuela materializes. Lets rebuild Venezuela. Lets reconquer democracy. Lets
restore justice. Lets recover freedom. Lastly, lets reconcile the country.
