Being a student here at RU
has actually changed what my plan was. When I was a freshman I came in with a
major in psychology
and a Spanish minor and after talking to my professor and expressing that I
wanted to study abroad
it really made sense for me to declare double major in psychology and Spanish
and then I went to an advising appointment and
I realized I still needed to do a lot of credits to be able to graduate,
so I added a criminal justice minor and for me that's going to be really
beneficial because I plan to be a substance abuse and addiction counselor.
So having the psychology, the Spanish and the criminal justice is really going to
help me be able to
help people later on. On campus I am a sister of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority
and I'm a member of the Honors Academy and I'm also a tutor at the Learning and Resource
Center
and for me joining my sorority was definitely
one of the best decisions I've ever made because I have made so many great
friendships.
Being a tutor at the LARC has really helped me
just because it's some experience and I actually really enjoy helping people
and I like doing homework, so it's fun to help people out with that.
To any high school student who is looking at Radford University, I would
say definitely look around and see all that Radford University has to offer.
We have so many major choices that there's got to be something here for you
and also when you do get here I would say look around at the clubs and
organizations. I know that I realized joining the organizations that I've joined
has definitely been a big part of my life here at Radford
and it has really helped with the college transition. I came here as an out of state
student, didn't know anybody, so it has definitely helped me to make friends.
