Hiya, my name's Gemma,
I'm 19 years old.
I have a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta
but it's also known as Brittle Bones.
I don't work but I'm a student at the University of Leeds
and I study New Media.
The barriers I would say I have had to overcome
is people's opinions.
Sometimes when people first meet me
they think I'm not really that happy
and I can't really do much.
But as soon as I start talking
they realise that I'm just an average 19 year-old.
My greatest achievement is living independently at uni
with the help of part-time PAs.
I've got a really nice bunch of friends
and I'm loving it at the minute.
I hope to achieve
-- I really want a job in the media industry.
I want to be able to earn my own money and support myself
and I just want to be happy really.
my advice would be to anyone thats young and disabled
always be positive don't be negative
you never get anywhere.
So I would say my advice would be
- always plan ahead,
always have a Plan B
in case Plan A goes wrong,
such as when my wheelchair breaks down.
