Hi! This is Matt on behalf of Expert Village and today I am going to show you how to make
my homemade onion rings and homemade dipping sauce. There is another way to prepare onion
rings and they are in the refrigerator so the coating will set. Let's melt some shortening
in our pan. Okay so let's turn our stove on to medium and the reason we turn it to medium
is because we don't want it too high and the shortening get too hot because we need to
cook each ring about six minutes. So let's put some shortening in the pan. We want to
put just enough in; put about an inch of fat in the actual pan so that we can put our rings
in. Okay we'll see how this does and if we need a little more, we will add a little more.
Just let that melt nicely and make sure all these chunks are gone. We want to make sure
that the shortening is hot enough so that when we actually put our onion rings in, they
cook. We don't want them to just get drenched with oil. So let's just wait a while and make
sure that it heats up really nice.
