The Bishop of Dili ordained seven Salesian priests last Sunday.
The ordination of these priests was performed in
the Cathedral of Mary the Immaculate in Dili.
The seven new priests are Abrão Soares Pinto,
André Belo da Costa Xavier, Belzito Assunção dos Santos,
Carlos Fernandes, Erminio Basilio Freitas Cerqueira,
Hermenegildo Pereira, and Paulus Rajasta Angara.
These seven new priests are from Baucau, Baguia, Laga,
Ossu, Uatucarabau, Ermera, and Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
Bishop Ricardo da Silva said in his sermon that
that these priests would become Christ's witnesses preaching the Gospel.
Bishop Ricardo also said that these priests must
follow justice, truth, discipline, filled with love
preaching God's gospel.
These priests must learn a lot about increasing knowledge
responsibility for needy people
and must work together with their brothers and sisters
in religion, and have obligation to help people become holy.
In addtion to this, the head of the Salesian Province in Timor Leste
and Indonesia, Padre João Paulino Aparício Guterres, SDB
and the Salesians who had been nominated,
gave their thanks.
After the celebration of Mass, they continued with a banquet,
eating together in the Don Bosco Centre in Comoro
The consecration ceremony for the seven new priests
also concided with the church's celebration
the day when the Immaculate woman went to heaven
and also the World Salesian Day -
it’s the 150th anniversary of the Salesians.
In this ceremony, there were also participating,
religious men and women, former students, and the
Salesian family.
