Hi! My name is Shawna on behalf of Expert Village. In this demonstration, I’m just
going to show and kind of give you some tips about the clear plastic elastic. It’s a
nice elastic, you can use it in a lot of different things. It’s great for swim suit, swim wear,
or anything like that…using it first before you fold into the casing or the hem. I’ll
kind of demonstrate it on this. This is of course not very stretchy, but it’s great
for reinforcing seams that you’re worried are going to stretch out too much. I’ve
seen a lot in the shoulder seams of different things. I can do it on the outside, or I can
sew it on the inside because it’s not seamed. This one is just a small elastic, but it’s
very handy when you’re doing different things. But it stretches, and you can sew on it and
it doesn’t tear, it’s great. We won’t roll over, I’ll just show you. You always
need to kind of get a handle on the edge, so I kind of sew and I backstitch, and then
I have the thread to hang on to so that I can help pull it through as I’m doing it.
I pull that again. Just run it, again I’m just stretching it. Again, this works great
on…you can actually do a zigzag stitch over it to create a gathered look. It’s so great
because it’s invisible, basically. So it works inside or outside of things, and that
can make a really nice gather or a casing if you must.
