It really isn't garbage till you mix it all together.
It really isn't garbage till you throw it all away.
Just separate your paper plastic compose glass and metal.
And then you get to use it all another day.
In Rockville we got once a week pick ups
recycling, trash and yard waste,
but you might have something that doesn't fit into any of these category.
"Hello, Special Pickups"
That's when you can call for a Scheduled Collection
Six times a year we'll come to your house and pick up oversized or bulk items.
You'll need to bring all items to the curb,
preferably the night before collection,
and make sure they're unobstructed by cars,
tree limbs, or over head wires.
Good examples are building materials,
furniture, and mattresses.
Scrap metal can also be recycled by appointment.
At the curb place large household appliances such as washers,
dryers,
air conditioners, and hot water heaters.
You may also leave bicycles and swing sets, lawnmowers
(please remove gas and oil before we pick up),
metal desks and bookshelves,
file cabinets, exercise equipment, pots and pans, old metal sheds, and much more.
We also collect electronics for recycling. In your electronics pickups you
can include camcorders, televisions, telephones, cell phones, office machines
such as fax, small electronic appliances, cords, and toys.
If they're isn't a pickup in your timeframe, you may also drive your items
to the Montgomery County Transfer Station and drop them off yourself.
Rockville also collects household hazardous substances
you may call
to schedule a pickup.
Hazardous substances include:
acids and caustic materials such as cleaning and pool chemicals,
aerosol cans with fluid still in them,
car fluids (such as oil and antifreeze),
pesticides, and other yard chemicals. Oil-based paint,
batteries, and car tires.
Fluorescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs to name some typical household
hazmat items. It's best to box these items and write hazard or hazmat on
the outside before your schedule a pick up.
Our staff will also give you additional instructions on how to package and
where to place your hazardous materials.
