Hi, I'm Dr. Q, BellaireER. Forty-eight thousand children were infected with whooping cough
last year in America alone. It's a very dangerous and highly contagious infection. The infection
is aerosolized, the bacteria is called bordetella pertussis. When someone coughs or sneezes,
that's how you get infected. It presents with two weeks of just a mild cough with congestion
but then...it gets worse. Kids get this, sort of these, violent attacks of coughing that
end in a "whoop". The following few weeks they deferves and they're actually getting
better with the treatments like clarithromycin, erythromycin or even azithromycin.
Tip of the day: make sure your kids are immunized at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, at 15 to
18 months, and 4 to 6 years of age. I'm Dr. Q. I care for you.
