Let’s begin our lesson by discussing proper keyboarding posture. First of all the keyboard should be placed as close as possible to the front edge of the table. Monitor position straight ahead so head, neck, and eyes are looking straight ahead.

Proper keyboarding begins with placing your hands on the home keys which are located in the third row.
Find the letters A, S, D, F, J, K, L, and the semicolon key. Place your four left-hand fingers on the keys A, S, D, and F and your four right-hand fingers on the keys J, K, L, and the semicolon key.
Place the left hand fingers on a, s, d, and f. Place the right hand fingers on j, k, l, and semicolon
Remember, the keyboard is divided into the left side and the right side.
When typing, your left hand stays on the left side and strikes only the keys on the left side. Your right hand stays on the right side and strikes only the keys on the right side
Remember learning to keyboard can be compared to learning to play an instrument or a sport.
