I'm taking this air coach to Belfast yep this is our Air coach it's about two
hours to get to know us this is our Air coach to Belfast
so this bus runs 22 times a day and it was 10 euros one-way. Today I'm heading
to Belfast in Northern Ireland this trip is essential to understanding
the history of Ireland and the UK. First let's check into our hotel
check out this room this is on the 10 square hotel with these huge beds
beautiful high ceilings TV desk we have closets
heated towel rack bathrooms rain shower
this is the drink of the hiking also serve continental breakfast right next
door City Hall is basically the main center
point of this we're here in the capital city of Belfast for the weekend let's go
check it out use the British sterling whereas the Republic of Ireland uses the
euro and that's just one of many differences even though we have now
entered the UK there were no official border crossings or visas and Belfast
is ranked as one of the top 10 safest places in the UK. As tourists we are very
blessed to be able to visit Belfast. The city is very different than it was a few
decades ago. While we won't be going into the history in this video, one of the
best ways to learn about it is by going on a street art tour which shows you the
murals that were once a response to the political strife have become an artistic
way for allowing the city to bring closure to this period.
These right here are called the Peace Walls.
They divide the city between the Catholic and Protestant regions.
Kind of reminds me of Berlin.
...at the end of every street, it wasn't cost effective so they built the wall. The concrete wasn't high enough, so that's why the three levels. And the walls are open at different times of the
day. The murals make reference to the city's past while others allude to a
peaceful future. Even Rihanna was here to film the "we found love" video and she
signed the wall. So this right here is the Protestant side and then on this side is the Catholic side and our guide was
explaining to us that a lot of the Catholics feel safer with the wall. Some of the
murals have a humorous message and add to the beautification and uniqueness of
this city let's check out one of those exact murals which is done in a
sculpture form
There's Titanics
one of the best things about Belfast is the kindness and hospitality of the
locals who are quick to explain the history and tell their personal accounts to
help you understand. So we are now on the Catholic side we've passed through the
peace wall and our guide was saying that whatever is going on politically in the
world they put up a new mural so over here we have Fidel Castro that was put
up a year ago so essentially these murals they change all the time there's
new artists coming in all the time and kind of reacting to what's happening
politically in the world from what we could tell Belfast has undergone
significant spiritual industrial and political transformations and is moving
forward in a bright direction.
Now time for one last piece of artwork this time a ceramic sculpture done by
John kindness called the big fish the fish is decorated with scales each
telling a story about the history of Belfast I'm down there of Arthur chin
Chester the founder. I suggest that you give it a kiss. Even outside of the peace
walls the city of Belfast is dispersed with beautiful street art.
if you like the cities' street art as much as we do hit the thumbs up button
down below
we took the black taxi tour which is customizable based on your time frame
and there's also the hop-on hop-off bus
so we just finished our free walking tour of Belfast how was it Mike?
Awesome amazing, we love Belfast.
And it's kind of ironic because politically there was a lot of conflict but today Belfast
is safe easy to walk around and there's a lot of sites so right now we're
heading to the Titanic Museum we are now heading to the Titanic quarter
here that the first known ship was built here in Belfast in 1636
and we're on the maritime trio this is one of the largest shipping producing
ports I'm in Belfast right now this is Northern Ireland and I'm about to go to
the Titanic Museum there's quite a bit of regeneration going on in this town
look at these brand-new apartment buildings very posh this is like their
Sydney Opera House
the Titanic Museum is a must-see in Belfast it's highly interactive and
educational and tells you the history of the city from its industrial past all
the way to the Titanic Belfast was once an economic boom town and major producer
of linen the Titanic which was the largest ship afloat was built here in
Belfast from the museum tells the story of the ill-fated voyage
the shipyard here that's where you worked on Belfast might come name a

it could be working for one and you see the largest positive in the

at that time many of whom worked on Titanic over the 26 months it took to
construct the hull for launch

to sign up on April 5th Titanic was dressed in her signal flags and pennants

the different time they represents well that's it my club and over much the same
idea started saw when he first and of course the very story and just came to
late hour and and from that the Titanic movie was made which brings us to the
future of Belfast shipbuilding is still a big part of it but also filmed the
game of Thrones is filmed right here in Belfast in fact they even have tours of
the filming locations in Northern Ireland.
We are taking the train back to Dublin. Non stop bus.
So I thoroughly enjoyed Belfast
The history, the culture, the art.
It's truly amazing.
the bus ride back to Dublin is only two hours and comes with comfortable seats
and USB ports we truly enjoyed our trip to Belfast the rejuvenation of the city
was inspiring the people were friendly and it was much less touristic than
Dublin. Be sure to check out the visitBelfast.com visitor website for tours and
