We began the project by researching about cardboard boxes, which gave us ideas on what to include in our own chair.
We each sketched some chair designs
and after reviewing the designs, we combined some of our ideas to create better designs.
We built miniature chairs based off the best designs and proceeded to build full-scale models.
Initially we worked with cardboard to understand its strengths and weaknesses better
We tested the first completed chair, only to find it buckle down with weight on it.
The second chair also did not hold up against 200 pounds.
By our third chair, we were able to create a sturdy seat
Yeah, we're good.
Is it still comfortable?
I mean, I can lean back a little bit.
The stables chair was not aesthetically pleasing, nor did it meet our constraints.
We took the same design and added a few details to make the back more stable and make the chair look better.
Lastly we implemented our chair outside of our group.
We asked others to rate the quality and comfort of the chair.
How does the chair look to you?
The chair looks like a good design.
It looks pretty good. I like how you just cut out those extra parts.
It looks sturdy, it looks simple
Can you sit on it please?
How does it feel?
It feels like a good chair
Is it comfortable?
Yeah. It's got back support.
It feels pretty good. I mean, just, solid.
Feels good. Feels, like, solid
It doesn't feel weak, and it's not really uncomfortable.
