Here we are again,
we've brought a nice toy.
We know this place, it's always quiet.
Wait a minute.
They want to play.

As you can see,
we've brought along some playmates.
That'll be quite an afternoon.
That's nice of course.
The Gallardo is a relative of this R8.
Also a V10, it's an older model
so it has less horsepower.
But lets focus on this R8 Spyder.
At the moment the R8 Spyder
is only available with a V10.
So it's quite quick...
...but it's a bit slower than
its brother with a hard top.
The top speed is 196 mph for the coupe
and 194 mph for the Spyder.
But it is the fastest Audi
to ruin your hair with.
So we had to put something else up against it.
We need a premium-battle.
Look, this is what you call a worthy opponent.
The fastest BMW against the fastest Audi.
But it's a motorcycle, so I think that
he'll be quicker if he knows how to drive.
Go!
The S1000RR has 193 hp.
But sources claim that it's
actually more powerful than 200 hp.
And it only weighs 403 lb.
I do want to win today.
An old Gallardo...
...it's Italian so 25% of its horsepower is gone.
But in fact it's almost the same car...
...and it wants to show who's quickest.
And in the end it's almost just as quick.
I don't think you can hear me anymore.
There's more to say about this R8 Spyder.
All the lighting on this car is LED.
The headlights, rear lights,
the cabin lighting.
Everything is LED, everything.
That's quite special,
you won't find that on any other car.
What struck me while driving it was...
...it seems a bit more venomous than the coupe.
I say 'seems' because unless
you're some sort of Nuerburgring-god...
...it's quite hard to compare specific cars.
Especially if there's some time between them.
But it's a little bit heavier,
and that weight is in the rear...
...where the roof mechanism is.
It really has more oversteer and it also
slides away further than the R8 coupe.
It has Quattro of course, so it also sends power
to the front wheels...
...but the engine is in the mid-rear and
most of the power goes to the rear...
...so it slides nicely.
And that was more venomous
in the Spyder than in the coupe.
You saw Patrick's camera shaking
and now you think I can't drive properly.
That's true, but this wasn't my fault.
This is another one with an R-Tronic gearbox.
And you can say a lot about it...
...but we won't say we like it very much.
It doesn't change gear smoothly and sharply.
It's quick, but it's a single-clutch gearbox...
...it's a kind of robotized manual gearbox...
...and I just don't like it that much.
And I haven't met anyone yet
who thinks it is.
Except for the people at Audi of course,
who say it's perfect.
But it just isn't.
It isn't a punishment to drive an R8 Spyder...
...and everyone stares at you.
Really unbelievable.
But if I picture a normal R8,
that design seems more balanced.
The Spyder isn't ugly,
but something isn't quite right.
But the sun is shining
and we brought our mates, so who cares?
And I still don't like that
that motorcycle beat me...
