GEORGE MICHIE: You know, certainly, local advertising
is, in some ways, the holy grail for Google as I see it.
The ability for mom and pops to compete with the big boys
that play nationally.
For folks in the neighborhood searching for products that
mom and pop carry, I think is a big deal.
Certainly, part of the struggle there is making ad
buying easy enough that mom and pop can figure it out
without a lot of time.
And Google has been providing increasingly good tools for
self management, so I think that's an area that's going to
grow in big ways.
Certainly, mobile is going to be a big player.
Whether mobile is going to be important for retailers of
high-end electronics, I have my doubts.
But again, get back to restaurants, get to travel,
get to other verticals where people are more likely and
more easily able to find what they want quickly, and not
have to sort through a thousand different products.
I think mobile's certainly going to be big, and the
adoption curves are astonishing.
