Welcome to the GGC library.
Let's join GiGi-C Grizzly for a short tour.
Let's start at the first floor.
You can check out books at the first floor Circulation Desk.
The person at the desk will be glad to help you,
or you can use the self check machine.
The circulation desk is also where you would ask about any books that your
instructor may have put on reserve
and learn more about items that may be on electronic reserve.
Textbooks are generally not available in the library as the library collection
supplements your course materials.
You'll find textbooks for purchase next door in the Student Center Book Store.
If you need to copy something, copiers are located on the first and second floors
of the library.
You may use Cave Cash on your Claw Card or you can email copies to yourself,
following the instructions located at the copiers.
Printed copies cost ten cents per page.
Georgia Gwinnett College uses a print management system.
To make printouts from library computers you must have Cave Cash on your Claw
Card.
Cave Cash may be added to your Claw Card at the PHIL machine located in
the B Building atrium or in Student Accounts in Building D.
Printouts are also ten cents per page.
If you need help with printing, just ask at the Help Desk.
The Help Desk is also where you can get help with software and find out more
about obtaining Microsoft Office.
There are also info commons with help desks located in B Building and A Building.
Scanners are located in the info commons.
The first floor of the library is where you will find DVDs.
The library has over two thousand DVDs that you can check out.
Study rooms are located on all floors of the library.
The presentation practice study rooms, with equipment to record and review
presentations, are located on the first floor and maybe reserved by contacting the
Help Desk.
All other study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.
Please be aware that the study rooms are not sound proof,
and the preferred use is by two or more students at a time.
A quiet reading room is located on the third floor and it is open to everyone
for quiet and independent study.
On the second floor you'll find the Reference Desk.
Here you can get assistance with your research.
You can also get online research assistance by using our libguides,
produced by our own librarians and tailored to your classes.
Research often involves online databases.
The library has many for your use, both through galileo and our own
separately purchased databases.
You can get the galileo password through my g-g-c or through your gil account.
The reference librarians will be glad to help you learn how to get the most out of all
of our online resources.
Books are located on all three floors of the library.
Print newspapers, magazines and journals
are located on the second floor.
Reference books are also located on the second floor.
If you cannot locate a book you need,
you may wish take advantage of gil express,
where you can borrow books from any University System of Georgia
institutions.
Again, the reference librarians will be happy to show you how to use gil
express.
As you enter the library you may notice Jazzman's Cafe.
Here you can get a snack or a cup of coffee.
You're allowed to bring in foods that do not disrupt others
and beverages in covered containers into the library.
