Thank you.
Once again, Aloha, thank you so much for supporting us and coming to my concert tonight.
As I mentioned, we are very, very happy to be here and excited to be in Europe.
For many of us, this is our very first time on this part of the planet, on this side of the Earth.
And it took us a long time to get here. Two days, to be exact.
We spent many hours on our flights and it was very tiring
but as soon as we landed and the cold air hit us, we were very, very excited and happy to be here.
The first tune that you heard was a tune by the great Stevie Wonder and that was called
"Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing", featuring Nicholas Nagata, right here on tenor saxophone.
[applause]
I want to tell you a little bit about our school, where we're from.
Iolani School is a Kindergarten through 12, private, coeducational school.
It's a college prepatory school in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Honolulu is the main city, the capital city of our state on the Island of O'ahu.
The school was founded in 1863 by the royalty at that time, the Hawaiian monarchy, King Kamehameha III and his wife, Queen Emma.
At that time, they wanted to establish moral support for the local people of Hawaii,
and they were inspired by the Episcopalian Church in England, so they traveled to England,
and when they came back to Honolulu, or to Hawaii,
they wanted to support the people of Hawaii the best way they could, and that was to provide support for the mind, body, and spirit.
And for the spirit, they established the Episcopal Church in Hawaii.
And for the body, the Queen established a medical center which still runs today. It's the largest medical center in Honolulu.
It's called the Queen's Medical Center.
And for the mind, King Kamehameha established an all boys school called Iolani School.
His wife started an all girls school called St. Andrew's Priory.
Those two schools still exist today. We are one of the largest private schools in the nation, in the United States of America.
This school was all boys. It was boys only until about 30 years ago when we first admitted the first girls to Iolani School.
My wife, Susan, who is in the audience tonight, was part of that history.
She was one of the first women to be accepted to Iolani and graduate from Iolani School way back in 1983.
[laughter]
And she just happens to work at the Queen's Medical Center, so Iolani School runs deep in our family.
We're going to do a song right now that is very famous in Hawaii.
It was written by a man named Andy Cummings who wrote a lot of popular Hawaiian songs in the '30s and '40s.
He wrote this song about an area very close to Iolani School.
Very famous, probably the most famous beach in Hawaii.
It's called Waikiki Beach.
This song talks about and expresses the beauty of Waikiki Beach.
We have joining us on this song the Iolani School Girls Hula Halau,
a dance troupe,
that will be dancing for you if you turn around and look by the trees.
You can see our lovely ladies back there
and they are under the direction of Kumu Hula Lehua Carvalho who is also here tonight.
Let me present to you Waikiki by Andy Cummings featuring the Iolani School Hula Halau.
