Hello, my name is Miriam. I've been a nanny for about 10 years now.
I've given a lot of children a bath and experienced a lot of children crying,
being tired, they tend to move their head back and, ***
their head. I'm always conscious of the bath taps, especially
as I've got two children. They reach out to touch the faucet
and, it's a problem. I'm worried that she gets scalded.
If there would be something to cushion the area then that would be perfect.
So, I was actually looking for different products like a tap guard
but I couldn't find anything so I came up with the idea of Tappy.
A bath tap guard that would also entertain the children,
and telling Simon about it, and he said 'Well why don't you try to make it?'
We're not professional designers so all we could do was just take different materials,
and try to make it as near to the product that we wanted to have.
We went to the 99p shop and used this Neoprene material to cut out the shape of it and glued
& sewed it together. The first prototypes weren't brilliant, they...didn't
do anything at all actually...they just soaked the, soaked the bathroom didn't they?
Yes, we had lots of different prototypes until... ...one day, we tried out a new prototype and
we were completely dry! So then we went to a design company.
18 months ago I had the idea for it trying to find a product that helps, and improves
bathtime. You know, holding it in my hands and seeing
the product, the idea, actually seeing it in front of me was just amazing!
So after all that work and lots of different prototypes, Tappy finally exists! So here
she is, her happy smiling happy Tappy face; it's real and it works and it's a really really
good product. Does it fit all taps?
Yes, we guarantee it fits all UK taps. She fell in the bath and then, after that,
she's cut herself on her chin. They slip so easily that they're going to
hit their head on the tap. Most likely, the thing I like about it is
the safety side. I'd have fun with this (if I was a kid).
Hi Tappy. Hello...my name's Tappy.
I like bubbles. I'd like to feed her bubbles.
Never heard of anything like that before, that's really good.
(baby cackles with excitement) She loves it! I need a hundred Tappy's to go all the way
around my tub!
