This is the High Density Espalier Gardener Video #4. These are my Pear trees. They are
right next to my Figs and right next to my Apples. So I have 3 different trees here you
can tell by the trunks. But I actually have, I think its 6 types of Pears here cause one
of them has multiple Pear types grafted on to it, the one on the right. The one on the
left is the Century 2000 Asian Pear. It has come out with several little flower buds and
as you can see here, I have my first little Pear coming out. I've gone through and I've
started attaching the branches with that Velcro tape making it so that each one grows the
way I need it to grow. Now on one of the previous videos I talked about how the branches from
the different fig, excuse me, the branches from the different trees would be growing
side by side, in order to maximize the use of the space. So here, this is my Yellow Bartlett,
I have a branch coming along this way, notice that it keeps going up to here. Well right
behind it, I have a branch from now from this tree, my Century 2000 Asian Pear coming right
along next to it. So, I should have plenty of space for branches on each of the different
wires and should have a lot of actual space for my trees. Growing along the top, I haven't
done this yet to the Figs because the Figs are still growing out, but I did clip off
the top and I did the same with this one. So here you can see where I clipped off the
top quite a while back. Now the branches are growing out and I am attaching them to the
wire, training them to the wire. Sooner or later I'll just bring this down and just add
that one as well to the wire and keep it going. Same thing with the next one training it so
it goes across. That way it doesn't grow real tall and I can easily pick the fruit. This
one is my Multi-Grafted Pear. On this one, I have Comice Pear, I have Anjou Pear, I have
Flemish Beauty, and I have down here Hood Pear. So I have a total of 6 Kinds of Pear,
all Espaliered and High Density about a foot and a half, no these are actually about 2
feet apart trained along the wires.
