Hey it's Bowen here at the PAPA facility outside Pittsburgh to play some Monster Bash
and uh... this is setup at "PAPA difficulty" so
the inlane posts have been removed at least the rubbers have been removed
the outlane posts are as high as they can go, so you'll see a lot more
outlane drains on this game than
on a typical Monster Bash game
Let me start the game off by showing you the flipper code, one that you can activate
on any Monster Bash
if you do it on location it's gonna cost you a credit so just be careful of that
the code is driven by the initials KEF
so as I start the game we're gonna type our K-E-F by the left flipper
and again, holding both flippers
will clear any code that's being typed in
flip the left flipper eleven times
then the right flipper ending our K
five times then there's an E
six times and there's an F
you know you did it if you get to hear Lyman say "Totally"
this is going to be "Lyman's Lament" which is a mode
put into
Monster Bash that you can get during regular play
you get a version which doesn't give you any bonuses
by typing the code. "oh big drain coming" says Lyman
Lyman's just gonna bash on you and bag on you, until you drain the ball
and whatever you do wether you're holding on the ball, or checking the status report
- Lyman: "what are you doing ?"
or shooting shots
that Lyman's think isn't a good idea
Lyman will just yell at you,
and get grumpy.
so let's try to play the ball with Lyman yelling at me.. oh big trouble
and basically he's going to yell at me the whole time
oh huge trouble… oh!
near death save!
but we get to hear this! - Lyman: "Can't we all just get along ?"
now that's you seen Lyman's Lament, let play a full game and see if
we can get pretty far through it
to get a feel for the two main goals of Monster Bash, the Monster Bash
and the Monsters of Rock rounds
you get
to get all six
of the creatures
the Creature from the black lagoon, Bride of Frankenstein on the ramps,
Frankenstein on that center shot,
the Mummy by hitting bumpers, Wolfman through the loops,
and Dracula through the targets on the right
you earn the
monsters by starting their rounds, and you get the instruments
by completing their rounds
the ideal would be to
start and play all six rounds
at once
in which case Frankenstein has to be the last one
so my goal is to try to advance
light all of the monsters
getting nearly all the way to starting them
and not actually
starting them until
I get them all going at once
I will make ramps, I will make loops,
I'll make it to the Creature shot
and my goal is not to start any of these
until I have them all
completed roughly the same level
the one that seems to be the trickiest to get to is… Mummy
possibly because of the number of bumpers that are required to hit
and there we go through the bumpers
with only one hit
it's kind of aggravating
at times with the uh...
Mummy round
I don't even know how many hits
I still need for Mummy because I have that much more to go
let's go for Bride
Bride lets you kind of combo the ramps
if you get strong with the ramp shots, you can really hit Bride
to get a lot of points.
Bride's right ramp often flails out but it returns pretty nicely to the left flipper
let's see I've got one shot for Mummy,
pretty more for Creature,
Creature can be backhanded, it's nice.
one way to play is to just
trap the ball
and try to play backhand on this
so that's 3 in the Creature, I will not aim for Creature again until
I get everything running. Dracula is closing in,
two more shots to light Dracula,
Dracula won't actually begin when it's completed,
it will just be lit
so that's a nice little bonus
as it is now I'm probably basically gonna to go for Frankenstein
the Frankenstein shot is much easier from the left flipper than from the right
so if you're on the right
you can post transfer it
I think a smarter shot would be the center spinner
which advances you to "Mosh Pit"
and then try to grab it on the left flipper.
backhand it
when you get it on the left
really nasty drain there but...
that's the way it goes.
so decent progress on ball 1
the plus side for me
in terms of
just performance is
everything is pretty much lined up
I still need to get Frankenstein a little closer
and... Mummy seems to be very far away
but it's possible that I could
at least start the mutiball with five
and I don't think I'll be getting Mummy
backhand
Frankenstein a couple more times
the challenge here is to get control after the shot
and trying not to let that get out of your way
I was near drain on the left
that's the ideal, it comes right back at the flipper
and now Frankenstein is open
now we can start
starting stuff
"full moon fever" begins,
let's begin...
let's begin anything else at this point,
nothing else seems to be beginning but that's okay
this should get started Dracula
"Mummy mayem" have been lit and will be available so it's possible now
that we'll get all six
software in this game is pretty clever,
as it's giving the things that you want
at times
oh! ohohoh, the nastiness of it...
that's really my fault because I may have not expected at all the ball would do that
but I could have trapped it out of the kick out
to try to keep that from happening
so I lose the chance to get those instruments
I can still get to Monster Bash
but that shot right there
was much more of a mistake
than any other shots you saw me including the loss of ball last
starting Frankenstein without starting any other rounds
is a huge mistake that's gonna cost a lot of points
right now I could have Creature running, I could have
Bride running,
I could have all the other rounds running, and all I got going is
the Frankenstein multiball
it's a decent score from Frankenstein
but it's really not what it outta be
that could have been a Bride shot,
that could have been a Creature shot,
all the missed opportunities for stacking
and I got enough shots here to get
the instruments
the damage is done as far as my ability to kind of cash in
on bonuses
I'm now gonna try to get some Monster Bash, which means
start the three rounds that are available to me
and then shooting the scoop
to begin the round.
so in order to do that
I need to shot the Creature,
the scoop for Mummy,
and the left and right ramps ones each 165 00:08:37,320 --> 00:08:42,810 my shooting has kinda left me… right ramp,
left ramp starts Bride,
backhand starts Creature,
hole shot starts Mummy,
let's get the kickout here,
and do a better job of that
let's go right ramp - left ramp
to start Bride, and "Monster Bash" is lit
the "Monster Bash" is a round where
every monster is worth 2 million
additional bonus is that all the rounds that were previously running continue to run
so I'm very likely to complete the rounds that I had running
the other key shot during the Monster Bash round is the center spinner,
which awards bonus depending on the number of monsters you've hit
the center spinner is worth more than any other shots
so during this round you should concentrate on hitting things, every things,
but hit this center,
this center spinner,
more than any other shots.
so here's 2 millions we'll see how it goes here
ideally also thinking about what rounds were running
when you started this
like in this case Creature,
Bride and...
Mummy
you wanna try to make sure you complete those too.
Mummy is total points round so
usually it's not hard to finish at all
but I'll concentrate on the ramp shots
so I can finish Bride
and you can tell when you finish rounds by their instruments
but Bride will just continue running the whole time
it means that the ramp shots for Bride
are worth an extra 1,5 million
on top of what they're usually worth
during regular play
and you can even use
your instrument bonuses
push the…
push the trigger
to fire off one of those instruments
I don't know what shots are missing now
for Creature, probably I'm missing the left loop
to finish that round off
when you're down to 2 balls you really want to get control of them
during "Monster Bash" as there's no timer.
and rounds continue where they were left off
so I didn't get to finish creature
but I got 64 millions out of 'Bash
decent 'Bash total
not a stellar game but a good game
and
decent score
for everybody to see
I hope you enjoyed watching this video
and uh...
get out there playing some Monster Bash, play some other pinballs,
we hope to see you in a future PAPA or Pinburgh tournaments someday
and take care,
play some more pinball!
