What is labour market information? Is it that important that I know about the labour market?
What should I know?
Hello, my name is Monique and I am an Employer Liaison with the Conestoga Career Centre.
Labour market information tells you about jobs and wages, industries coming, going and
changing, cities and communities, future trends and conditions as well as employment statistics.
In today’s fast-moving world you need to know where the jobs are, who is hiring, what
are working conditions like, when will hiring take place, how can I get education or training
that is required and what can stop you from getting a job.
Understanding the labour market is an important step toward making "informed" choices.
Job patterns change over time with technology and communities changing and growing. You
need to know what jobs are going to be valued in the future.
Knowing that education and skills are needed at a higher and more specific level for today’s
jobs could help you decide on taking some training or upgrading to keep yourself employable.
Being well informed about the Labour Market is an important piece for looking at your
future. We can help you find what you need to know. Visit us at the Career Centre for
more information.
