Sarah Fergusonhas revealed how the love of her daughters helped her through her break
up with Prince Andrew, when her friends feared she would take her own life.
The Duchess of York admitted that she did not want to leave her room during the split
but said Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie made her realise she had to get on.
Prince Andrew and the Duchess were separated for four years before divorcing in 1996, and
she added that those experiences have made her stronger.
Speaking at an event at Londons China Exchange, she said: There was a moment when I did
not want to come out of the room.
One of my good friends who was looking after me, she did think every time she came into
the room that I would have committed suicide.
It was when the world saw a huge public humiliation and I think those experiences
have made me stronger.
It was because of my two girls that I decided that it was important to get on.
I feel that I am very strong about my message now, which is to experience life.
Upon leaving the 60 Minutes with Sarah Ferguson event in Soho, central London,
the Duchess climbed into the back of chauffeured car in which a small note had been stuck to
the back of the front seat, reading: I love you Mummy.
The Duchess added: I have a pure heart of joy and I have just realised at the age
of 56 that it is OK to be yourself.
And it is OK not to be perfect and not read 56 million books and have not gone to Harvard.
Its just being able to be here and make a complete and utter idiot of yourself.
Experience it, believe it and be it. tell us your thoughts in comments below.
