Steph: “Some people get it straight away, but many people do ask me why the name.
And it goes back to a time when I was going from being fully sighted to learning to live
with partial sight.
This was a tough time for me. I tried to remain positive but of course I did have some bad
days. And on those bad days I would tell myself, ‘you know what girl, if life deals you lemons…..get
out there Steph and make lemonade’
And this became a really motivating saying for me. It helped me to stay positive and
it helped me to realise that I did have a choice. I didn’t have to accept these lemons.
I could choose to move on and make lemonade.
Individuals started to contact me who were in a similar situation and they felt like
life was dealing them lemons. They wanted some suggestions, some inspiration and some
guidance on how they could turn their lemons into lemonade. In time organisations, charities
and businesses also sought similar advice from me
And what I soon realised was that actually this was my ‘lemonade moment’!
And so when it came to naming this business of mine. This life coaching,
Motivational speaking and I’d got into disability equality and disability awareness and it was
very much about reducing and removing barriers that prevented people
There was only one name that would do…..because if life deals you lemons ….make lemonade!”
