I'm pleased to inform you that three funding opportunities under HRSA's Healthy Start Program
have been reopened through Monday, March 31, 2014. For complete details, please visit the
Healthy Start Technical Assistance Webpage at the address you see on your screen.
Pending available funds, grants will be for an initial period of nine months -- from September
1, 2014 through May 31, 2015, with the possibility of annual continuations thereafter for up
to an additional four years.
From closely examining best practices over Healthy Start's 22 year history, we are redesigning
the program to further increase accountability, efficiency, and expand services to ultimately
better improve health outcomes.
All eligible organizations are encouraged to apply. Organizations who applied for the
previous Healthy Start funding opportunities that closed in January 2014 may also apply.
We are looking for organizations serving eligible communities that demonstrate a need for Healthy
Start services based on perinatal indicators. We are also looking for applicants with a
demonstrated track record and capacity for successfully performing Healthy Start activities,
as described in the FOA. We're looking for organizations and communities
poised to engage in Healthy Start activities upon the potential receipt of funds in September.
After you review this Healthy Start FOA technical assistance webpage and read the complete FOA
guidance package, join us for a webinar on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00
p.m. Eastern Time to ask any clarifying questions. Finally, review tools and resources on HRSA's
"How to Apply for a Grant" webpage. You must be registered with Grants.gov and meet other
technical requirements before you can apply. And don't wait until the last minute -- applications
submitted after the deadline are not reviewed.
We hope to work with you to improve the health of mothers and children across the country.
