Hi my name is Dave Maret. I am 69 years old. I was diagnosed with stage II colon cancer
when I was 66. I am retired now. I retired when I was 60 years old and before that, I
ran a Japanese Printing Press Manufacturing Company in Chicago. When I retired, I decided
I wanted to get my hands working again because I am an engineer and so I came up to the area
where we live now here in Wisconsin and bought houses and rehabbed them with a group of other
contractors that work with me. My wife owns a Remax agency here in the area and she was
diagnosed with breast cancer of all things in 2010, I guess November, was operated on
in December and of course, she started to, I would say nag and perhaps to try to implore
me to get a colonoscopy because at 66, I had never had one before, so to placate her, I
did go ahead and get a colonoscopy and sure enough I had colon cancer. Once I found out
I did have colon cancer stage II, a lot of things started to flash through my mind. My
father-in-law had had colon cancer a number of years ago and wound up with bag or more
technical term because he was very advanced and so of course that certainly weighed heavy
on my mind and I realized that I needed to get something done very quickly.
