Hi I’m Kristine and I’m here to help you get your Base and Bling style on,
gift style with these fabulous new products from Close To My Heart.
Now you may have seen our Base and Bling pieces
that are brand new they come with some great charms,
they come with some wonderful square and circle bases
both in one inch size,
plus you’ll also see these awesome style sheets
done in four unique personalities.
So whether you’re a story teller, a diva, a craft queen,
we have got some fabulous exclusive artwork for you
to help you make these darling, easy, affordable, necklaces
But today I’m going to focus not only on
how to make one of these great pieces
but how to give it as a gift
in a really fabulous presentation.
I think you’re going to love it. It just takes minutes.
First let’s look at a couple of samples of some different pieces
that I can make with these new Base and Bling pieces.
I’ve got them already wrapped up here
in these fun little gift packages
that I’ll show you how to make in just a minute.
And you can see it’s fun to use all different kinds of things.
I love working with the style sheets of course.
They are adhesive backed and they’re sized
to fit those one inch by one inch squares just perfectly.
I’ll show you how to trim them down for the circle bases.
But you can put a lot of other things in them.
For instance you could put a photo in them.
You can, on this one, you can see
that I have just used an embossing folder
and textured some of that cardstock,
so I’ve got some great cardstock
and that gives a little bit of dimension
and some pizzazz to an otherwise a very solid color necklace.
I can use some embellishments inside.
I’ve got some of our Aqua Dots and Flamingo Dots inside of here.
I can even use some embellishments on the outside of the glass cover.
So there are a-lot of different things that you can do
to express your own personal style.
I will advise you if you are using something other than the style sheets
and you use Liquid Glass
to adhere your glass cover on the top,
you’re going to want to test the liquid glass
on your finished surface first,
before you make your final project
because sometimes Liquid Glass can affect the color of a photo
or some background and texture paper.
Whereas all of the style sheets have a special coating on them
so they’re guaranteed not to change color
or shift at all when you work with the Liquid Glass.
So that’s really a nice thing about working with the style sheets.
Now I am going to make, let’s see,
I am going to make one of our circle pieces to show you how it works.
I’m going to work with the Storyteller.
I’m going to work with this really fun piece up here.
It’s kind of got a vintage newspaper look.
Now what I recommend that you do
is cut out the piece that you want
and I know it’s so convenient that I just happened to choose
the one that’s at the very top corner.
Each style sheet has
32 different designs on them
so they go a long, long, way.
Now I’m not going to cut that out, instead what I’m going to do
is I’ll take my glass cover just like this,
and I will place it down
where I’d like it to go on my design element.
Now, you’ll notice that I’ve chosen a design element here
that just kind of a, loose and repeating pattern,
some of the style sheet images are very, very, specific
and some of them frankly are designed to work best with the squares.
You’ll want to definitely choose your image
and then see whether it works best with a square or a circle.
If they’ve got alot of words or sentiment on them,
they’re going to work best with the squares
but that’s why I’ve chosen this nice repeating pattern.
Now I’m just going to trace around it with a pencil.
You can use a pen or marker whatever you’ve got
got but for me a pencil’s easiest.
And I don’t have to be perfect I know.
I know we all want everything to look perfect
but all it has to be is dark enough for me to see it.
I’m going to trim exactly along that pencil mark.
Not bigger and not smaller.
And that will let it fit in just perfectly.
And it does not have to be, if you’re not the most awesome
circle cutter in the entire world, like I’m not,
you don’t have to worry about it
because it’s really pretty forgiving.
Now remember I told you that the backs are
ad, adhesive backed so it’s really easy to just remove that.
You can see that that’s not a perfect circle.
That’s okay because the glass cover
is really going to take care of a lot of those imperfections.
And I’m just going to push it right down inside.
As long as it covers, that’s a really adhesive back,
as long as it covers, um, most everything underneath there you’re going to be just fine.
Now the next step is the Liquid Glass.
You’re going to want to be generous with your Liquid Glass,
very generous with your Liquid Glass,
So you’re going to want to just squirt.
Squirt, it in there!
Be the Liquid Glass diva you were born to be.
You can see that I’ve got it nice and thick, not being shy.
The reason that I’m going to go thick is that I want to ensure that there are no bubbles left over,
or dry spots once I’ve pushed my glass cover down,
And it’s a little cloudy, that’s the way Liquid Glass goes on.
And I’m going to push my glass cover down.
You’re going to see that it is going to seep out around the base.
That is okay. Do not panic at this point,
just have a non-alcohol baby wipe close by
and immediately, gently, wipe off the excess
just like so,
and you’re good to go.
It’ll take a couple of minutes to dry completely
and it won’t be able to slide around inside that base
so that’s really easy.
So I can just clean that right off,
make sure that my glass cover is nice and clean
so that it’s wonderful and shiny when it’s all done.
And there we go!
Isn’t that cool looking?
It’s really cool, really nice piece of vintage hip jewelry.
Now I’ve also got my chain.
Chains and Base and Bling pieces,
the bases are sold in either faux antiqued gold,
or faux antiqued silver.
Whereas the charms contain a mix of both
the antiqued silver and the faux antiqued gold in each set,
and they’re also done in four unique personalities
to match the style sheets, how cool is that?
And of course you can totally mix and match to make your own style.
On this one, I kind of love the Eiffel Tower,
so it’s a place on my Bucket List.
We’re going to go there someday.
And so I’m going to string that on.
I’m going to lay it down
just to make sure that I get all my pieces
facing the right way, right direction.
Ahh if I had steadier hands it would be even easier.
And then I’ve got these fun rhinestones as well,
they just add a little bit of extra pizzazz.
You’re going to also find even outside of the Base and Bling area
of the Close To My Heart Idea Book
there are a-lot of really fun accents and accessories
that you can add in.
You can look to Mini Medleys,
you can look to some of our level two accessories that are fabric,
that are rhinestone;
so there is my necklace.
So, so, so, cute so easy to do.
Now let’s focus on, let me slide that over here,
now let’s focus on this great carrier sheet.
This is a dream, this is cut from
the Artiste Cricut Collection Cartridge.
so I’m on page 57 in my book
and you’ll see this fun card right here that’s intended to be a gift card,
it’s already got the notches cut out of it,
it’s this one right here shown in blue
and I’ve cut it at 2 ½ inches using real dial size.
When I do that I’m going to get a piece that looks like this.
And you can see that I’ve already got my notches in it,
I score it and fold it and then if I want to dress it up
with something else like I’ve got my little piece here.
You can dress it up with anything you want,
a monogram, a stamped image, you name it.
This one just says “Friend you lift me up”.
Now because it’s done for
a gift card and not for a necklace,
I’m going to add just some slight little notches in the top.
They don’t have to be very deep just in my first scallop.
You can see how I’m doing that,
and that will give me a place
to position my necklace and hang it on.
Then all I have to do is thread
the necklace through those notches
that I just cut, shorten them or lengthen them to fit anything I want.
I’ve left mine a little bit long, unintentionally,
so I’m going to pull it up,
fit it in there just like that,
fit it in there just like that, there we go.
Now I’ve got all this excess um necklace,
the chain in the back
and that’s what will fit beautifully inside this card.
I can choose to secure it in a couple of different ways,
I can head to my craft store and get just a little baggy,
I can choose to tape it down,
I actually think Washi Tape looks really, really, cute;
so I want to secure the inside of the necklace any way I want,
I won’t do that now just for time’s sake
but I can secure it any way I want,
and then I have a really adorable presentation
for my hand made, unique,
just for you beautiful Base and Bling jewelry.
So what did I do that in, five minutes?
You can do this at home too.
Make it easy, make it yours, make it perfect.
Base and Bling is not only an awesome piece of style for you,
it makes a great gift.
