My name is Omotoye Makinde, and I am doing the Executive MBA at Cass here in Dubai -- I
started in 2011. So far it's been great, the teaching has been great, great subjects, really
good getting to understand different aspects of business and finance and management more
generally. I think one of the things that I have enjoyed the best about the experience
here is really just the diversity of the class. Dubai is quite international, similar to London,
and I have met different people from all kinds of nationalities and different backgrounds.
Being from an international background myself I have a deep appreciation for that kind of
diversity and I think it brings something that goes beyond the academic aspect or various
work experiences. The teaching staff here at Cass are great.
A lot of the lecturers come in from Cass London which is great because there is consistency
between what is being taught in the programme in London as well as here in Dubai. The reason
why I took the Cass MBA in the first place was because I wanted to try to achieve a change
in career path. I studied Law as an undergraduate, and then ended up working in investment banking.
I thought this would be a good way to punctuate that work experience -- I'll consolidate my
finance and banking knowledge a little bit but also achieve somewhat of a pivot in terms
of going forward. What's been great that I've liked so far is
that in focusing on different subjects, different aspects of business and management I've been
able to able to figure out a little bit more about what gets me ticking personally, and
sharpen my focus a little bit on what I would like to do going forward. The MBA, especially
for executive professionals, is more than about academics. It is really more about what
you have learned from the people around you. Cass has a quality class of people, and I
think that that is really important.
