JACOB SOBOROFF: Hey, it's Jacob.
Today we have a flaming sledgehammer and urban skiing.
[THEME MUSIC]
The opening ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi
kick off on Friday.
I guarantee you there will be all kinds of video uploaded
from Russia, and frankly from all over the world.
From Canada, AsapSCIENCE has already
uploaded the first video in a 20 part series.
Each episode is going to tackle a different scientific aspect
of the Olympics.
MALE SPEAKER: And while the Olympians
may train in gymnasiums, the word gymnasium actually
comes from the Greek word gymnos, meaning naked.
So it's no surprise that ancient Greeks competing
in the Olympics were completely nude.
JACOB SOBOROFF: There's a whole other non-sports side
to what's going on in Sochi.
The hashtag #liveandletlove is a Swedish campaign
advocating for LGBT rights.
I really love this.
Back in October they gathered 2000 Swedes
in the Stockholm Olympic stadium to sing
the Russian national anthem.
And they just released the full video.
[MUSIC- RUSSIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM]
You can actually participate by uploading your own version.
There's sheet music.
There's instructions on their website.
And you get there by clicking the link in our description.
ALEX: It's official.
The results are in and the most memorable ad
from Sunday's big game comes from a personal injury
lawyer in Savannah, Georgia.
Wait, what?
This full two minute spot only ran on local TV
but quickly exploded on the internet.
It tells Jamie's personal story in epic fashion.
JAMIE CASINO: I once was a notorious criminal defense
lawyer who was employed by some of the most cold hearted
villains.
Until one day my little brother Michael and his friend
were two of four people whose lives were taken.
ALEX: If I never needed a lawyer,
I'm definitely choosing the one with the flaming sledgehammer.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Want to learn how to make ravioli
from an adorable drunk person?
It's "My Drunk Kitchen."
HANNAH HART: For my homemade ravioli
I'm just going to use a basic ricotta that I've already
eaten with my finger.
Wait a minute.
This whole time I've just been making potstickers with cheese
inside.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Hannah Hart's been drunkenly cooking
for almost three years.
And she's been furiously working on a new project
that she just announced in this video.
HANNAH HART: "My Drunk Kitchen" has finally become a book.
A real book.
This is also my handwriting.
I was really insistent upon that for some reason.
JACOB SOBOROFF: By the way, Hannah
will be here on Monday when she totally
takes over YouTube nation with a couple of special friends.
CHAD NEIDT: I'm Chad.
You may know me from my series I started
on YouTube called "The One Minute Mash Up."
I started making videos because I love comedy.
Which is why I wanted to show you this.
It's from the UCB sketch group, "The Midnight Show."
NARRATOR: Rich parents is the only way
to solve financial, social, and job related problems.
Need time to work on your screenplay?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Rich parents.
NARRATOR: Want to backpack through Europe?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Rich parents.
NARRATOR: Editing bay?
Recording studio?
Bug spray?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Rich parents, rich parents. rich parents.
CHAD NEIDT: So these guys have posted more than 100 videos
to date.
It's as good as any sketch you can find out there right now.
So head on over.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Hey, happy birthday Facebook.
Facebook turned 10 yesterday.
Just think, in three years Facebook
can actually start its own Facebook account.
To celebrate, we bring you this video
that imagines a world where Facebook
started 10 years earlier.
NARRATOR: On your wall you can share with your digital friend
what's going on in your life.
NARRATOR: I'm tired.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Squirrel Monkey has
banned retro-fying modern technology for the last two
years.
Twitter, Google, YouTube, and on Monday they sent Instagram back
to the '80s.
NARRATOR: At your local gas station,
you can get the free Instagram form.
The form will ask you for your computer system and data
carrier.
But now comes the fun part.
It will also ask you to select effects, like sepia.
monochrome, ocean, or blurry.
JACOB SOBOROFF: This channel is like a nostalgia museum.
But they've got less than 10,000 subscribers.
Go there now.
Show them some love.
We want them to keep it up.
CHAD NEIDT: So the only way this show
works is when you guys get involved, just like Roman.
He sent in an unbelievable video through Facebook
and it's a section from the award winning film, "Into
The Mind."
[MUSIC PLAYING]
The best part about YouTube Nation
is you guys also get to get involved.
So all you got to do is post a video of yourself talking
about another video you think is awesome.
And make sure in the title you put hashtag #YouTubenation.
JACOB SOBOROFF: Until tomorrow.
Links are below.
Playlists are about to pop up.
Do not forget to subscribe on your way to Chad's channel.
What's the latest with you, man?
CHAD NEIDT: Well, actually two weeks ago I just
released an album.
It's called, "Am I Doing This Right?
On my YouTube channel if you want to check it out,
there's a music video off that album called "Sunny Side
Up" about a zit on my chin.
JACOB SOBOROFF: That's how I like my eggs.
Now play us out, "Champagne Taste."
