Erik: How are you using games and contest to create nutritional awareness?
Cathy: Yeah. Anything it takes to create more nutritional awareness. I love to write about
nutrition and keep that alive. Pretty much every recipe that I write I consider the nutritional
aspect and I try to do that in a way that is not boring and motherly and just annoying.
So, I like to make it light hearted and talk about the fun aspect, the delicious aspects,
the cheap aspects. You know a lot of people think nutritious food is more expensive. So,
proving that in a way that is light hearted and friendly and approachable. Contest seems
to be a great way to go about it. You are naming that plant for name that plant and
you are also learning a little bit about agriculture and any way of making food fun and I have
seen that, I think it was a Jamie Oliver show where he brought some fruits and vegetables
to a classroom and kids were trying to guess it, and again you have that feeling of I want
to get it right and I want to be right. It’s a natural instinct. You want to learn about
these and how funny is it that we don’t actually know what a tomato is. These are
like basic parts of learning, I think.
