What's up Attackers! Nicole here, and welcome to your Friday edition of the Daily XP, bringing
you up to date with what that has happened in the world of gaming for this past week.
Today's episode features Arena of Fate, Maplestory 2, Half Life 3 and Hearthstone! Your daily
XP starts now! This week Crytek announced a new game, and
I'll bet you can guess what type it is. Yes .. a MOBA. But never fear, we've never had
a MOBA like this one! Well .. they all say that, so why is this one any different? Well
first off, Arena of Fate will feature a vast array of heroes from both myth and history,
with some interesting characters like Robin Hood, Jack the Ripper, Frankenstein and Joan
of Arc. A website has been set up at arenaoffate.com, where you can find out only slight tidbits
about the game. Not much there in the way of how it's different from other MOBAs, and
from what I can tell it's going to follow the classic 5v5 match-ups, blah blah blah.
They do have a short video that shows off absolutely nothing, but I believe that's because
they want to show off everything they have at this year's E3, which we'll be at! Yay!
We will definitely find out more about Arena of Fate for you very soon.
This week Maplestory 2 got its first gameplay trailer, which thankfully is actually filled
with gamplay! Yes, that's a rarity this day in age, but we applaud Nexon for giving fans
of Maplestory something to sink their teeth into. So what do we see in the trailer? Most
notably is the addition of the third dimension, which Maplestory did not have, so there's
lots of footage of fighting, swimming, driving and mini-games. Another thing I noticed is
that it's very .. blocky. Like, MInecraft blocky. Which is weird to me, one of the main
things that people liked about the original game was its art style, which has been replaced
with big-head chibi 3D models. You can check out the trailer for yourself right now as
I'm speaking, or you can view the whole thing on Maplestory 2's website. The game is currently
in Alpha with a Korean closed beta sometime this year and a global launch to be confirmed
later. The days of browsing /gaming in Reddit and
finding a Half Life 3 confirmed post may be coming to an end. And no, not because we're
sick and tired of seeing them, it's because Half Life 3 may actually be confirmed. Imagine
that! Counter Strike creator and former Valve employee Minh Le let it slip that both Half
Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 are in development. Minh Le made it seem like it was "old news
by now" when talking about the much hyped sequels, which was kind of strange, as Valve
has always been very tight lipped about acknowledging the existence of two of the most popular series
in PC gaming. So, who do we believe? I want you guys to let me know in the comments if
you actually think that Half Life 3 is being developed as we speak, or if Mind just wants
to get his name in the news? Lastly, Blizzard is inviting the world's best
Hearthstone players to this year's BlizzCon for a chance to win a share of a $250,000
prize pool. Four players from each of Hearthstone's geographic regions will qualify to compete
in al "all-kill" best of five tournament at Blizzard's convention. How can you qualify?
Well, each region has different rules, which you can find on battle.net, but essentially,
anyone playing ranked matches could hypothetically move up high enough to compete as one of the
16 players in each qualifying region. BlizzCon takes place November 7th through 8th at the
Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. Thanks for watching the Daily XP. Be sure
