Well, good morning everyone.
I'm Cheryl Thompson-Stacy, president of Lord Fairfax Community College.
Thank you for joining me on this special occasion.
It's with great excitement that the College holds a groundbreaking
for the Corron Community Development Center.
We really appreciate you taking the time today to join us for this event.
I want to thank each and every one of you in the audience for making Lord Fairfax Community
College the very special institution that it is. We appreciate that, too.
I want to recognize two groups and thank them for their support
and especially for their support for the building project and I just ask that you stand.
Do we have some... I know we have some elected officials in the audience.
Because I met with one. Please stand. [I knew you were here].
And we also have several donors to the College Foundation
and again we appreciate your support and we couldn't do the wonderful things that we do
without support from those individuals.
Once constructed, this new facility will meet the increased need for space for professional
development courses that help the region's workforce enhance their skills
and train for new careers.
Currently, the Office of Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education at the
College serves more than 10,400 individuals annually.
That's a lot of people that come through our doors.
This new center will enable us to better serve the business community
through a dedicated facility that features a large, multi- purpose meeting space
and numerous classrooms, and I know that many of you have looked at the pictures
that we have of the facility and if you haven't, [excuse me] had a chance to do so
please do so after the ceremony's over. It's going to be just a beautiful,
beautiful building. Again, thank you for joining us to celebrate the groundbreaking of the
Corron Community Development Center and I'll be introducing members of the stage party
as we break ground.
