Hello everyone Michael here with the daily note 2 and 3 YouTube channel today I want
to show you a quick video on how to make that USB 3.0 connection correctly I am working
*** a video that's going to show you the photo and video taking capabilities of the
note 3 but in the meantime I felt that I had to get his video out because there is some
misinformation floating on the web about the USB 3.0 on the galaxy note 3 first things
first it's not to speed up your charging at all a lot of websites say that it's going
lead to a quicker charge these chargers don't have the USB 3.0 extra pins in here so is
going to give you the same charge as you would through something like this the cable from
the galaxy note 2 or the S4 and you might be thinking well my computer has that USB
3.0 cable it had that blue connector and maybe through my computer I can get that quicker
charge well you're going to see that's not going to be the case you going to see that
it's made in a way where it's not going to sustain that USB 3.0 connection if you're
not transferring any files through it so I have a USB cable connected to my computer
and I'm going to make a connection on my galaxy note 3 and just letting you know it's a really
tight fit so you won't have to worry about any loose connections but you'll see this
message pop up, this device can perform faster it seems that you're not using a USB 3.0 connection
so when you transfer files through it you'll notice that it may be transferring faster
than the galaxy note 2 but you're not getting that USB 3.0 connection and here is why just
pull down the notification bar and go to connect it as a media device and here is the setting
you're looking for just put a checkmark on media device USB 3.0 and what this says is
if you're not transferring files for 10 minutes it's going to actually go back to media device
MTP and you'll have that slower USB 2.0 connection and you'll have to come back in here and enable
it again you'll also see that once it turns itself off you'll get that pop up as well
saying that this device can perform faster if you're running Windows maybe Mac has the
same thing Ok so let's do a quick test I'm currently
connected over USB 3.0 and I'm going to drag a file that's exactly 1 GB
now maybe I started off the second early you can
see that 1 GB video file is copying pretty quickly
somewhere in the 15 second range so let me disable USB 3.0 and you could see that I got
that pop up again This time we're connected over USB 2.0 and
here we go let's drag this file over. There we go. This time I started about two seconds
late but he could already see that it's taking longer and if I had to guess its taking exactly
2 times longer so I'm going to guess that this is going to stop exactly around 30 seconds
so there you go and you could see that if it disables itself if you're not transferring
any files for 10 minutes then you won't sustain that USB 3.0 connection
so it's not going to affect your charging at all so anyway that's the end of today's
episode and I hope you find this information useful I've been searching for it myself for
the last couple of days I've been trying to update drivers rebooting my computer and changing
the bios on my computer which actually I had to do because I disabled USB 3.0 to get VMware
working properly but I reenabled it since I finally have my first USB 3.0 device thank
you for watching and make sure you check out my other videos for the galaxy note 2 and
3 and make sure you subscribe for upcoming videos because I really try my best so that
you can get the most out of your galaxy note 2 and 3 once again thank you for watching.
