So more little things about our station. You can run lots of other inputs through the Mackie.
What a lot of people do is they bring an I-Pod in, or they bring a computer in, or any other
little audio playing device and they plug this little eighth inch input in and there
you go. It's just like any other input that you're running through the Mackie. You turn
it on. Select the Mackie as your input on the big board. Turn that channel on. Turn
it up. And you're good to go. Another thing we run through the Mackie is the cassette.
Yes! People are still playing cassettes. So you get your cassette cued up there. Take
a look here on the Mackie. You see you've got signals. If you don't, find out what's
going on. OK. There it is. Turn it up. You've got volume there. I'm going to turn my Mackie
channel on. Select the Mackie as your input. Turn that channel on. And there it is. And
again, always watch your levels. So that's a good level right there. Another important
thing at Valley Free Radio is, the automation computer. This little switcher box will take
you from broadcasting from this studio, if I press this button this light would light
up and we'd be broadcasting live from this studio. So this switcher box lets us broadcast
from this studio or from the automation computer. And you can see our very beautiful signage
here. So somebody's pressed this computer, this light lights up and now we're broadcasting
from the automation computer. And we'll take a look at the automation computer right now.
So if anything happens to you in the studio and you got to leave or your shift is over
and you need to leave without the next DJ being here. Just hit that button, hit the
automation computer button. And our automation computer will take over for you. And now what
you can see right here, I'll just show you this is a station play list. A really nice
automation program. There's an hour marker. It automatically drops in a station ID every
hour. Then somebody's automated Democracy Now from Pacifica. Because we're a Pacifica
Cub Affiliate. And then it also drops in somewhat more than an hour worth of music. So this
thing's always going. It's quite reliable. And so, if you need to leave the station before
the next DJ's in. You just hit that automation button and station play list takes over.
