Hi, there. It's Paul Murray with SouthernOutdoorCinema.com. Today I'm gonna talk to you about promoting
your outdoor movie event. So you picked out service, you picked out a location, you picked
out a time. How do you actually get the word out about your movie event? Some people think
of it as simply as "build it and they will come."
Well, there's a little bit more work to it than that as there is with any successful
event. And we have three key things that we think you should know about to help make your
outdoor movie night successful. First, are there things that you can do to attract audience
to your event. One of the things you can do is to theme it around a particular entity
within the movie.
So if we're doing "Despicable Me," you might want to go ahead and advertise things with
a Minion in a screen or an ad or whatever you are marketing with. You could also, let's
say, for Alvin and the Chipmunks, use Alvin as a central theme, and use pictures of Alvin
in all of your marketing materials. Just make sure that it is a copyright approved image.
Also, you can, number two, check to see how many social media locations you can put your
movie event information in. You can put it on Facebook. You can put it on Twitter. Is
there a location website that you could put it on if you're working with a school? Put
it on a school website. You can also, if you are with an organization.
Number three, send event flyers out through your organized
members. If it's a school, you can send flyers home with the children in their book bags
or you can go ahead and put advertisements up at the school, but you gotta get the word
out in some fashion so that you'll have a lot of people coming to your event.
Make sure that in all your marketing materials, you include the date, where the event is located
and the movie title, and also the time. Time is very important because people don't know
when to show up. They will assume that they have to be there at dark and some people will
come in a little late.
You really want everybody coming in at around half an hour to an hour before the movie start.
I would like you to leave a comment below letting us know how you created a wonderful
outdoor movie show. Also this will inspire others to create their own successful outdoor
movie events. If you found any of these tips helpful, please go ahead and retweet this
or share this with your friends on Facebook or email any of the information to your friends.
Until next week, this is Paul Murray with SouthernOutdoorCinema.com.
