there's a church group called Love Wins ministries
in Raleigh North Carolina and every week for six years
they've been going to a local park called more square
to hand out food to the homeless now this is one of those stories where I'm
actually
happy about the Christians that's very rare because often times nowadays
as you all well know well cover story about christians
where they're simply hating gay people or discriminating against poor people
and B rating and
this is one of those rare instances where people are Christians
but they are also Christ like which is a good thing
so this week police stop to them
from feeding the homeless and said they're breaking a city ordinance
reverence you holla well who's the leader the church
said quote no representative from the Raleigh Police Department was willing to
tell us
which ordinance we were breaking or why after six years and countless friendly
and cooperative encounters with the Department
they are now preventing us from feeding hungry people
when I asked the officer why he said that he was not going to be mean
I'm just telling you what it is now you pass out their food
you will go to jail so not only are they saying
hey because it is such a city ordinance I don't have a choice man I'm gonna have
to tell you you can do that
there's i kno if u do that we will throw you in jail
no friendly warning no please stop it just
sorry you're going right to jail if you feed the homeless
is not amazing and I really brutal
well and other charitable group human beings together
told WRAL which is a local a new station there
that it was also forced at a park and then when it relocated to a nearby
parking lot to continue
police came up to them again and said sorry you can do it here either
but they actually locked out because the parking lot they were doing it in
the owner of that property but had
paldon at that moment and told the police officers now its cool day they're
allowed to do and I'm letting them do that this is my
private property here so are
that actually begs an interesting question
if the police told them they can't do it on the public land
that's one thing but then when they tried to stop them from doing it on
private land which they
don't have control over why are they doing that
what I mean not want people feeding the homeless how will I think we get our
answer right here
quote the police work for the mayor and the City Council
who is ultimately responsible to the developers
who spend lots and lots of money to revitalized downtown
in other words you know what they're saying are
we are trying to sell more houses in this area
to upper middle class people and we can't really afford to have these
almost people around even if all they're doing is
eating too you know stay alive know we need to kick them the *** outta here
so we can make another dime by selling another house now the
irony of it all of course is that where North Carolina here
that's where this story comes from so that City Council on that Maher
christian conservatives what happened to be in Christian
why don't you act like the Christians or feeding the homeless
not although to all Christians the answer is swell
we wanna make an extra nickel we wanna make a record I'm so gotta get those
homeless guys out here
third lowering the property value how Christian a view to put property value
above human value
