Telling the stories of the University of Houston, this is a UH Moment.
They're very talented. They're very skilled. They're very disciplined and they are very
motivated.
Betsy Cook Weber directs the UH Moores School of Music Concert Chorale, an elite group of
singers selected to participate this week in one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious
musical festivals. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, a six day festival
of song and dance in Wales. It's where Pavarotti performed and was discovered. The UH groups
is the only U.S. representative in the international competition.
We're doing a piece by Eric Barnum, who's a young man from Minnesota. We're doing an
arrangement by Carol Barnett, who's an American woman who is a fantastic composer. We're doing
a Robert Shaw arrangement.
The chorale also will perform this piece by David Ashley White, director of the Moores
School of Music.
The fact that we're going is a real tribute to the excellence we have here at the Moores
School.
The concert chorale is part of what's happening at the University of Houston. I'm Marisa Ramirez.
