Would you be willing to sell your house, that you worked a lifetime to purchase
in order to buy school supplies, uniforms and food for children in a country totally different than your own? That is precisely what the founders of El Puente did.
El Puente is part of the Centers for Spiritual Living. We started 9 years ago when we found that the community here had some real needs.
Alejandro here was the first student to be part of the School Program 9 years ago. How does it feel?
It feels very good to have been one of the first, and I'm proud to see the other children develop.
What are your long term goals for life?
To find a job that works with the community, promoting development in my community. But first I want to finish high school and all my studies.
Nanci, tell me, how many people do you serve every year at El Puente?
Last year we served food to 5000 people
And students?
Last year we served 82 students
Incredible.
Here I am with another participant of the program who has received a donation. Tell me, what did you get in that bag?
A pencil case, colored pencils, glue, erasers, scissors and a calculator"
Things you need to start your school year
For all of you in your homes, these two men have a message for you
