On June 6th, after a long time musing over the possibility of hosting a live show, League
of Reason held its first ever broadcast as a lead-in to The Atheist Experience. The turnout
for the event was staggering considering the short notice and the general inconvenience
of being unable to suit every time-zone.
Though we would eventually like to run every week, for the time being we plan to run once
per fortnight, and the next show will be this Sunday the 20th of June, at 7pm Universal
Time. Please check the description below for time-zone information.
Since the initial "pilot" of sorts, we have received a great deal of constructive criticism,
generally focussed on the format of the show and the moderation of the questions and answers.
We are reading the complaints and trying to make changes where possible, so that hopefully
this week things will run much more smoothly, and over time the format should improve as
we explore new options. Please bear in mind that we are a volunteer team and we're limited
by the technology we have to overcome the challenge of hosting a live and international
show from two different countries. We really appreciate your patience as we work out the
kinks.
If you are a creationist and/or religious apologist, and you want to challenge our panel
during Sunday's show, here is what you need to do:
Send a contact request over Skype to the account LeagueOfReason (that's all one word.)
All contacts will be accepted prior to the show. Then just make sure you show up on Sunday,
and during the show send a message via text chat to the account stating when you are ready
to ask your question. You will be put in the queue to be brought into the call. Please
wear headphones to avoid us getting an echo, and mute your mic when you're not speaking
so that typing and other sounds to do not bleed into the broadcast. The mute button
can be found in the call window on Skype. During the show itself, do not send a friend
request or phone LeagueOfReason on Skype. Friend requests will be ignored and calling
will result in you being blocked, as it may disrupt our broadcast. In other words, don't
call us; we'll call you.
Once again, the show will be two hours long, giving everyone time to get a drink before
The Atheist Experience starts, and we very much hope you'll join them too. To receive
news about future shows, you can now follow League of Reason on Facebook. Additional links
are located in the video description.
Until Sunday, clear skies.
