Hello, everybody. My name's Jenny Koska. I work at the Science Center of Iowa, and today,
it's 11 degrees below zero in Des Moines, Iowa. So you might have seen a lot of videos
online of people throwing water in the air and it instantly turning into snow, so we're
going to take a look at that right now in 3... 2... 1...
Now, you might have noticed that didn't turn into snow. That's because the water needs
to be boiling. When the water's boiling, it's so close to turning into water vapor that
when you toss it into the air, all of the water turns into tiny little water droplets
that are floating in the air and since the surface area is so great, they immediately
freeze, turn into water crystals and then you get SNOW!
