Hi, I'm Tanni Grey-Thompson.
Being a wheelchair user in London, it can be hard to get around but it doesn't mean that you're going to be stuck at home.
TFL are really working hard to make getting around the capital easier.
It's not perfect, there's a long way to go, but it's getting much better.
London Overground is meant to be 'turn-up-and-go' but that's one of my main issues. So, let's see how it works.
Good afternoon, London Overground information.
Hi, I'm just down on the platform. Is it possible to get a ramp?
Yes, sure. I'll get in contact with the station staff at ticket level and they will come and give you assistance.
Thank you.
That was really straightforward. It was really easy to get assistance to get onto the train...
and the staff member asked me what help I needed, which was great.
Thanks very much. Thank you. Bye.
I think sometimes you can feel a little bit self-conscious waiting for the ramp to come out...
because, you know, it makes a noise and it holds up the bus, but actually it's really quick...
and, you know, the most important thing, it doesn't delay any other passenger.
Hiya, sorry, I wonder if you can help me. I need to get to Mile End Stadium.
If you travel from here, down to Bank station, and at Bank, if you speak to a member of staff there,...
they'll arrange for a ramp at Mile End for you.
Brilliant. Lovely. Thank you.
The DLR, every station has fantastic access and it just couldn't be easier.
Oh, here we go,
The tube system isn't perfect, it does have a bit of a way to go,...
but the staff are really helpful and they try to make your journey as easy as possible.
Level access at Canary Wharf is absolutely fantastic...
but there's also manual boarding ramps, if you're in a wheelchair, to help you get on and off the tubes.
If you've not used the TFL network before, it can be a bit daunting.
There's loads of information out there. There's the journey planner website, leaflets at the stations...
and don't forget the staff. The staff are great and they're there to help.
It's not always easy but it can be done. Give it a go and come on board.
