characteristics of bows of sizes between 2,2 and 2,3 meters high dated from this Period.
Hello, I am Uchi-Deshi Adriano Afonso am I am here in Uberlāndia/Brazil
and I am very proud to share this great opportunity
given by my Master Shidoushi Thiago Finotti
to be participating on the Researcher Series
that is currently on our Website and in our Youtube Channel /masugiyama.
It is with a huge pleasure that I share a recent research that I have made tutored by my teacher Shidoushi Thiago
concerning Kyujutsu in specific the anthropology and usage of the Daikyu bows, Japanese Long Bows.
First, it is important to start from the history of the archery.
The first archeological findings in this area dates from the Paleolithic era around 50.000 to 10.000 years ago,
found in Hamburg Germany/Europe.
Nevertheless, it is important to analyze that the first human settlements
had nomad characteristics and the usage of pointy tools made principally by stone and wood.
One of these tools is the throwing spear
by this point historians believes that the Bow and Arrow had emerged
as a successor of the throwing spear of the Paleolithic Era (50.000 – 10.000 years ago)
and it had been a mark not only for survival purposes such as the usage for hunting
but also for its usage later on in military and martial purposes.
The Bow and arrow showed to have been extensive used in Europe when riding a Chariot
until the Bronze Era or Neolithic Era dated between 2300 to 600 b.c.e.
And this characteristic could be observed from Europe, Egypt and India.
By the other hand, its usage declined by the growth of the elaboration of different infantry tactics.
But at the same time it was observed by historians and archeological discoveries the a migratory flux
of a culture composed by warriors and fine metal workers had originated at the Altai Mountains
that is located between southeast Russia and central Mongolia.
It is believed that the cause of this massive migratory flux
that spread to North Europe to South Vietnam and Thailand
had begun caused by climate, political and economic changes around 2000 years b.c
promoting the spread of the Andronovo Culture throughout Asia.
This is very important to understand because when we analyze the anthropological question of Japan,
it is believed that the first Bows of Japan
Called Maruki Yumi had direct bond with the bows used by the Finno-Urgic Culture
that is known to have had direct contact with the Andronovo Culture
originated from the Altai Mountains.
Historians believes that the first hominidians activities in Japan
dates from 40.000 to 30.000 years b.c.
It is believed to be caused by the formation of glacial layers that united
the Asian continent to the Japanese territory making it possible the migratory flux
from the Southeast Asia to Japan.
This was also observed in Japan by archeological findings of *** Sapiens
dated from 35.000 to 30.000 b.c all over the Japanese territory.
However, the first try to settle a civilization in Japan occurred in the Jomon Period (8000 to 400 b.c).
This period is directly related to the Jomon culture
that are the far ancestors of the Ainu People actual Japanese natives.
In addition, it was in this culture that we had the firsts traces of medium size Bows and arrows
had had possibly originated from the Finno-Urgic culture
that had direct contact with the Andronovo Culture and been named Maruki bows.
Nevertheless, historians believes that it was in the Yayoi Period (300b.c – 250a.c)
that the first Daikyu bows were crated, this because of archeological discoveries that demonstrated 0:06:43.664,1193:02:47.295 characteristics of bows of sizes between 2,2 and 2,3 meters high dated from this Period.
