CALEB GOMEZ IS FISHING WITH HIS GRANDPA.
How many times have I been fishing?
Actually, about 20 times.
THEY'RE TAKING PART IN TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE'S
ANNUAL WINTER TROUT STOCKING PROGRAM.
Here they come!
There they go!
We’re at Bull Frog Pond in East Metropolitan Park
which is the site of Neighborhood Fishing in Austin.
We stock about 113 fish here in Bullfrog Pond
and every 2 weeks we'll get about the same amount
all the way through March.
THIS YEAR, TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE
WILL PUT 280,000 TROUT INTO TEXAS WATERWAYS.
AT RECENT STOCKINGS IN BLANCO STATE PARK
AND AT CANYON DAM NEAR NEW BRAUNFELS,
ANGLERS GOT THE CHANCE TO BRING HOME
UP TO 5 FISH EACH.
Oh that’s a nice one right there!
It's a real nice one.
THE PROGRAM ATTRACTS BOTH FISHING VETERANS
LIKE CALEB'S GRANDPA
AND NEWCOMERS WHO HAVE CAUGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
A fish!
Alright!
The reason we stock trout is to give people
opportunity in the wintertime to catch a species that’s easy to catch.
We want to get kids involved in fishing.
That’s our future conservation agents.
AND CALEB IS LEARNING THAT THE ART OF FISHING
IS SOMETIMES JUST HANGING OUT WITH GRANDPA.
I can't get no fish.
I think we're going to call it a day.
Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t.
We’ll try it again tomorrow.
FOR TEXAS PARKS AND WILDLIFE THIS IS LYDIA SALDANA.
