In this video, we are going to install
a Zotero extension to our portable Firefox.
So, put your thumb drive in the computer
and then open up "My Computer," and the thumb drive. Open up Firefox
portable.
Here's Firefox portable. I'm going to give you the web address for the Zotero
extension, but for me, I'm going to search
Google here.
Zotero for Firefox is right there
on the left hand side. Click on it. Click on
"Allow." It's downloading the add-on.
It asks you if you want to install. Go ahead and click on "Install."
It says Zotero will be installed after you restart Firefox,
up here in the upper left hand corner. Go ahead and
click on "Restart Now." This just takes a moment.
It asks you, "This apppears to be your first time using Zotero for Firefox. Would you like
Zotero for Firefox to import settings
from Zotero standalone anduse your existing data directory?" That came up
for me because over here I have Zotero standalone. I don't want that.
This says, "Success! You Installed Zotero!" I would highly recommend you register
because then you can get to your information from anywhere. So when you
register
it's going to send something to your email, which you should open right here
in your portable Firefox, and click-through. You'll be ready to get
to where you need to go. So go ahead and do that
if you register. I'm going to log in with my information
so that you can see what this does.
I never want it to remember the passwords.
So there it says I'm logged in. I can close that out now, but what happens with me logged in
is down here if I click on "Zotero,"
and then click on refresh, have to open my synch
preferences and type in all my stuff again.
It'll synch for me.
And then it's going to pull-up everything that I have in Zotero already.
So you can see, I've got my library with everything in it, citation collection
and a Boston Marathon collection. So that's how you install
Zotero on a portable version of Firefox. Good luck.
