Transcript name: Overall process
English Welcome. This video describes the overall process of creating a new course in
Big data or db2university.com. The overall process to creating a course is very simple.
On the left side in this chart you will see the tasks that the prospective course creator
must do to create a course and on the right side we will list the tasks that the Big data
or DB2 university team needs to perform. The process starts with the prospective course
creator sending a request, basically an email, that contains the following information:
* The email should be sent to administrator@db2university.com * The email title should be course proposal
* The content should have the proposed course title, abstract, the hours that are required
to take this course * The person should provide his Big data or
DB2 University id * Indicate if this course is to be provided
for free or if the course would be charging money from the students.
Their request would be validated by the Big data or DB2 University team. That means, they
will validate if the course, abstract and title are appropriate for the sites and if
everything is okay they would then sign a unique course id and then they would build
a course template. This is the template that would later on be used by the course creator
to fill in the blanks. After these, the Big data or DB2 University
team would grant the requester course creator access which means the course creator would
now be able to create a course and add videos and transcripts and so on.
They will be notified about these, especially about the course id and then the course creator
would first have to complete this course which is where he/she would learn the naming conventions
that he/she needs to use, the video specifications and so on.
After that, he can start creating the new course using the template that was provided
in the step number 4. After that once the whole course is completed,
he can upload the video/transcript files and for these he will receive instructions from
the Big data or DB2 University team as to where he can upload the files. Probably, we
will be using something like Dropbox to provide the files.
Once the files are received by the Big data or DB2 University team, they would upload
them to the cloud which is where we’re hosting all these courses then they would verify that
all the links in the new course are working. If everything is okay, they would publish
the course and they would notify the course creator.
That’s it! Following all of these steps, you will be able to have a course created
and published in Big data or db2university.com very, very easily.
Thank you.
