“My name is Bradley Felsten, I have done Economics at the University of Birmingham
and I have just graduated.”
Why University of Birmingham? “Mainly it was because this University had
a really diverse range of modules to choose from. The amount of breadth in the third year
really set it apart from some of the other Universities where you were really forced
into picking certain things. I didn’t know what kind of modules I wanted to specialise
in and so Birmingham allowed me to really tailor my degree.”
What did you enjoy about your experiences? “It is meeting a really diverse range but
also very similar people. A lot of people on an Economics degree are budding Economists;
they think like Economists and they have a very similar way of thinking to me but also
there is a very diverse range of people from all countries and all backgrounds in the UK.
No one is the same but we all think in quite similar ways.”
What is next for you? “I am going to join Ernest and Young in
London to be a trainee accountant for the next three years which is quite exciting but
a bit of a change from Economics because it is a bit more practical. Hopefully it is all
going to be good.”
Any advice for future students? “Make sure you pick a subject you are really
interested in because three years is a while and if you find something you really enjoy
like I did with Economics, it makes everything so much easier. You really enjoy your dissertation
and you actually enjoy revising for the exams in a funny way because you are really into
your subject. That’s the most important advice.”
